Prior to his move to CMC in January of 2006, Pastor Yoon — who prefers to be called “C.J.” — was Senior Pastor for the Toledo, Ohio, First SDA Church from 1997-2006.  From 1993-1997, he worked as a pastor for the Clarksfield/Norwalk/Sandusky District in Ohio.  Prior pastoral experience includes work as a Youth Pastor for the Korean-American Company in Chicago, Illinois, from 1991-1992 and as a Youth/Associate Pastor at North Shore S.D.A. Church in Chicago, Illinois, from 1987-1989.

A gifted administrator, Pastor Yoon has served as a member of the Ohio Conference Executive and Ohio Conference Personnel Committees, on the Board of Trustees for Mount Vernon Academy, as a Summer Camp Week Pastor for Camp Mohaven, as a member of the Youth Council of the Ohio S.D.A. Conference, and as a Coordinator for both the Youth Dept. Camp Meeting and the Ohio Conference Public High School Retreat.

Sponsored by Illinois S.D.A. Conference, Pastor Yoon received his Master of Divinity from Andrews Theological Seminary in 1991.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-seminary from Andrews University in 1987.

During his academic years, he served as the Youth Director for the Church of Christ in Dowagic, Michigan; as the Youth Pastor for Northwestern S.D.A. Church in Illinois; thrice as Director of the Youth Midwest Korean Camp Meeting in Michigan; as the Pastor of the Andrews University Korean Club; as the Youth Pastor for the Niles, Michigan, Korean Church; as the Youth Pastor for the Washington, D.C., Korean Church; and as the Coordinator for the Junior High Division of the Midwest Korean Camp Meeting at Blue Mountain Academy in Pennsylvania.

His college years also saw him elected President of the Andrews Theological Seminary Student Forum; President of the Andrews University Singers; President of both his Senior and Sophomore Classes at Andrews University; Chairman of both the Andrews Christian Youth Action (ACYA) and the Andrews University Ad-Hoc Chapel Decorum; and Director of the Andrews University Big Brother/Sister Program.

Pastor Yoon is married and has three children.
